Once your custom iron product is completed, we sandblast it right here at S&W Fence. Sandblasting removes the oily tarnish of the wrought iron and blends in every cut, weld and grind mark to ensure a picture perfect finish. This is vital because the iron's cleanliness dramatically impacts the ability of the powder coating to bond effectively.
Powder Coating Offers Excellent Protection for Ornamental Iron
Powder coating is a unique and sure-fire way to protect your beautiful ornamental items. Powder coating is the most effective method of painting iron/steel in the market today and it doesn't chip and fade over time like standard paint.
After the iron is sandblasted clean, it is immediately sent to our professional powder coat facility. The powder – in almost any color imaginable – is then sprayed on the iron pieces and put in an oven where it is cured at around 380 degrees which allows the powder to cross-link and create a very hard, durable finish.
Powder coating offers a uniform, durable, high quality and attractive finish. This process also resists corrosion, heat, impact, abrasion, fading and extreme weather conditions.
